Families, carers, and educators often face a maze of information when it comes to supporting children with developmental differences. To help make sense of the services available in the ACT, Health Care Consumers’ Association (HCCA) and Northside Community Services are hosting a special event:

📅 Friday 10 October
🕛 12pm – 2pm
📍 Majura Hall, 2 Rosevear Place, Dickson (Northside Community Services)

Demystifying Child Development Pathways

This free lunchtime session, Community Conversations: Child Development Pathways in the ACT, is designed to break down the complexity of child development services and give families, carers, and professionals the chance to learn directly from experts across the system.

Speakers from the public, private, and community sectors will be on hand to share insights, practical advice, and answer questions. Participating organisations include:

  • Canberra Health Services – Community Paediatric and Child Health Service
  • ACT Health and Community Services – Child Development Services
  • EACH – Early Childhood NDIS Partner
  • Spark for Life Psychology
  • Little Hands Occupational Therapy
  • A Village for Every Child – Collective Action Group for Child Development (0–5 years)
  • ACT Playgroups
  • Capital Region Community Services

A Practical, Interactive Format

The event will feature a “rotating table” format, where speakers move around the room giving short presentations and opening up for Q&A. This is a chance for families, carers, teachers, and community members to ask their specific questions in a supportive, accessible setting.

Light refreshments, tea, and coffee will be provided, creating a relaxed environment to connect with others who share similar experiences and concerns.

Resource Launch

Alongside the conversations, the event will launch a brand-new resource for parents and educators: How to Have Useful Conversations About Child Development. This tool has been designed to guide meaningful, practical communication between families, teachers, and service providers.

Who Should Attend?

  • Families and carers of children with developmental differences
  • Early childhood educators and teachers
  • Preschool and primary staff
  • Community organisations and advocates
  • Anyone interested in child development and wellbeing in the ACT

Don’t Miss Out

Tickets are limited, so make sure you snap up a spot today. Join the conversation, connect with services, and walk away with practical tools to support the children in your care.
