As a volunteer writer, you are:
Amplifying unheard voices in the Canberra region.
Creating accessible stories that help readers feel hopeful, informed, and inspired.
Shaping a new media narrative based on connection, empathy, and community care.
Duration: Ongoing
Commitment: This is up to you, but we ask you aim to submit at least one story a month.
Location: WFH (Canberra-based preferred for F2F component).
Start Date: ASAP
Remuneration: This is an unpaid volunteer role, with the opportunity to evolve into Freelancer work as our platform and community grows.
What You Can Write About
You’re not just writing articles, you’re building trust, celebrating local heroes, and sparking change. You’re welcome to choose from our established themes or bring your own idea to the table.
People with Purpose
Feature a Canberran making a meaningful difference, whether they’re a volunteer, founder, carer, artist, or quiet achiever. These stories shine a light on humans behind the mission.
Places with Purpose
Profile a location or organisation that creates connection, joy, or support. Think neighbourhood cafés with a story, community gardens, co-ops, health hubs, or grassroots spaces.
Re-write the narrative
Notice a particular popular news item that is getting traction, but the reporting is harmful? Re-write the narrative to educate the community and connect all parties to services that can help them.
