Canberra is about to experience a bake-off with heart. On Friday 18 October, Fearless Women invites you to Strathnairn Arts for the city’s first-ever Bring a cake, share it around event, an afternoon where cake meets community, and every slice helps girls and young women live life fearlessly.

Set against the stunning backdrop of Strathnairn’s gallery and gardens, Cake O’Clock is more than a celebration of baking, it’s a chance to connect, give, and savour the joy of sharing. Guests are encouraged to bring a cake (big or small, simple or spectacular), swap slices with others, and discover a smorgasbord of flavours from delicate Victoria sponge to bold black forest, playful rocky road to colourful rainbow creations. Plates, spoons, and smiles will all be provided, just bring your cake and your sweet tooth.

A Competition with a Twist

Adding to the fun, cakes will be judged by surprise guest judges across a range of playful categories:

By Experience Level:

  • Rising Whisks – Junior bakers aged 16 and under
  • Fearless Flourists – Home bakers
  • Baking Bosses – Professional bakers
  • Bold Beginners – First-time bakers

By Creative Theme:

  • Bake Outside the Box – bold design and fearless originality
  • Cake Couture – edible elegance and showstopping style
  • Femme and Fearless – vibrant designs honouring boldness, beauty, and bravery
  • It’s Not Meant to Look Like This! – a light-hearted nod to the joy of baking mishaps

Every entry is automatically considered for all categories, ensuring everyone has their moment to shine.

How to Enter

When registering, participants provide their experience level and contact details. An ingredients list form will be emailed in advance and must be brought on the day. And remember, no cake, no entry!

Why It Matters

Funds raised will go directly to Fearless Women, helping to create programs and opportunities for girls and young women in Canberra to live boldly, dream big, and embrace their own fearless journeys.
